What is the maximum age to compete?

 20 years old 

Is there a live stream of this competition?

 No, there is no live stream 

Are you allowed to wear a long sleeve leotard for the black leotard variation?

 Yes, but please be advised that sleeves can change the aesthetic of the variation. 

Are practice skirts or tutu’s allowed with the black leotard variation?

 No skirts or tutus are allowed. 

Can my competitor do only ballet or only contemporary?

Yes, a dancer can compete with only one of the categories, however, both are encouraged as the scores on both styles are included in the overall scores. 

What is the schedule like for this competition?

American Ballet Competition prides itself on being a competition with the maximum amount of dance time. Generally, and please note that this is all subject to change, we start on Wednesday with registration and a master ballet class with one of the judges. Thursday is a master ballet class with another judge followed by a learned contemporary section, to be performed another day. Thursday still, the dancers will perform their black leotard variations in a small studio for the judges, where they will receive feedback before their actual competition. Friday, following another ballet master class, they will perform their classical variations with costume and their contemporary variations. Saturday, following another ballet master class,  the dancers will perform their learned contemporary piece, their black leotard variations, and any ensembles. Saturday evening there is an encore performance, and an awards ceremony.
